Black Four-Piece Mitt and Trivet Set

A pair of mitts solves half the problem. You get the dish out of the oven and then you are standing in your own kitchen holding something at full heat with nowhere to put it down. This set closes that gap: two 13.7-inch silicone mitts and two silicone trivets, all in black, bought as one thing.

The mitts are the standard long-cuff build — moulded BPA-free silicone with a ridged grip across the palm and fingers, over a quilted cotton liner. The trivets are the same silicone in flat form, sized to take a casserole dish or a hot pan straight off the hob without the worktop underneath needing to survive the contact.

Black is the right colour for a set that includes trivets, because trivets take more punishment than mitts do. They sit under scorching cast iron, they collect the drips that run down the side of a dish, and they get shoved to the back of a drawer with everything else. A light trivet looks used within weeks; a black one does not.

Both parts are waterproof for the same reason: the material is sealed. Nothing soaks into a mitt or a trivet here, so steam off a lifted lid does not reach skin and a spill on the trivet does not become a stain in it. Everything in the set wipes down with warm soapy water, and the mitts go through a machine cycle when the lining needs it.
