Aqua Turquoise Four-Piece Mitt and Trivet Set

This is the loudest set in the range and the one that is hardest to misplace. Two 13.7-inch silicone mitts and two silicone trivets, all in aqua turquoise. In a kitchen where equipment vanishes into the worktop the moment you put it down, that visibility is the reason to choose it over the grey.

The argument applies to the trivets more than the mitts. A trivet only works if it is on the counter before the pan is, and a mat the colour of the counter does not prompt anyone to reach for it. Turquoise does. The result is fewer heat rings on a worktop, which is the entire point of owning trivets.

The mitts are the standard build — moulded BPA-free silicone with a ridged grip pattern on the palm and fingers, over a quilted cotton liner. The trivets are the same silicone in flat form, sized to take a casserole dish or a pan straight off the heat. Neither part absorbs liquid, which is the property that separates this from a folded towel.

Bright silicone stays bright because marks sit on the surface rather than soaking in. Warm water and dish soap clean all four pieces, and the mitts go through a machine cycle when the cotton lining wants more than a wipe. The colour does not fade the way a dyed textile does.
