Two 29.5 by 17-inch mats, rubber-backed, for either side of the same door.
The only part of this catalogue that is not about heat. A door mat has one job and it is done in two stages: scrape the mud and standing water off outside, take the remaining damp off the sole inside. One mat can only do one of those, which is why these come as a pair. Outside then inside is the arrangement that keeps a floor dry; a single mat, on either side, is a compromise.
The fabric is polypropylene, which is why one of the pair can live outdoors. It does not rot from staying wet, it does not develop the smell that wet natural fibre gets, and it dries without going stiff or brittle. That matters through a wet autumn far more than any surface pattern does.
The backing is rubber, and on a mat that is more important than the top. A mat that slides is worse than no mat at all, because it moves at the moment your weight is on one foot. Rubber holds it against tile, timber and concrete and stops it bunching into a ridge in the doorway.
